Growing up and living in Ballymena Co. Antrim, I watched motorsports with my Grandfather and went to Stock Car Racing with my Mother.
This continued when my last partner, Stephen ‘Jack’ McIlvenna, and I attended road races from the mid-90’s. I enjoyed it immensely and still do. He later became a road racer, his dream realised, winning the 2009 Junior Manx Grand Prix.
Since his passing in August 2014 during practice on the mountain, I work with the Injured Riders Welfare Fund as they were a great help to myself and Jack’s family.
This invaluable help is immediate and long-term for lots of riders and their nearest and dearest.
