Annual Easter Sunday ‘Ride out for Rory’

For 2025, the organisers of the Annual Easter Sunday ‘Ride out for Rory’ very kindly nominated the Injured Riders Welfare Fund (IRWF) as one of the beneficiaries in memory of the very much missed Alan Connor.

We were honoured to have Stuart Connor, Alan’s brother, accept a cheque for an amazing 1,420 euros on our behalf.
 
Huge thanks to Greg Johnson and Kenneth Lenehan, and to all involved.

IRWF so appreciates your support.

We send our love to Bernie and the girls, and to all of Alan’s family and friends.

We treasure the many fond memories we have of him.

Greg Johnson – “Well folks it’s nearly that time of year for our annual ride out on Easter Sunday 20th of April 2025 in memory of our great friend Rory Smith.

This year we are fund raising for 2 more charity’s they are for the injured riders injuries fund and we are doing this in memory of our falling rider Alan Connor.

We are also donating to Slane Red Cross who do loads of charity work for our local community.

As usual there will be free refreshments available after the run. We are also having a Rock band playing that night called the INFIDELS who are brilliant.

Starting at Dolly’s Bar on the Slane Drogheda Road sign on from 10am departure at 11am 11.30.

Hope to see a good turn out on the day and thanks to All who have supported us over the years.”

Cookstown Show 2025

Cookstown Motorcycle Show 2025 – Our lovely Sharon was at the Cookstown Motorcycle Show on Friday and Saturday, April 25th/26th 2025 at the First Cookstown Presbyterian Church.

We ran a ‘Guess The Helmet’ quiz for a minimum of £1 donation with a fantastic Easter Hamper for the winner.

A huge thanks to Deirdre Patterson and her team for making us so welcome and for organising the “Guess the Helmet” quiz, raising £134.64 for Injured Riders!

Thanks so much to everyone who took part and donated, we so appreciate your support.

Thanks also to George Young and Neil Biggerstaff who scored the quiz and drew the winner – Congratulations George Leonard.

Leanne Sands Fundraising

Leanne Sands is running Belfast City Marathon on Sunday 4th May 2025 and is raising money for the Injured Riders Welfare Fund and Alzheimer’s Society.

If you could help towards her fundraising efforts your donation would be very much appreciated.

Leanne Sands, “I’m raising £500 for two great charities, Alzheimer’s Society, this is a horrible disease that touches so many of our lives. I lost my lovely Granny to this disease so it is very important charity to my family.”

“Secondly, The Injured Riders Welfare Fund, many of you know that we our big fans of motorbike racing with my Daddy competing in road and track racing for most it his life. This charity goes above an beyond to help those that have been unfortunate to have gotten injured competing in their much loved sport, by giving them financial support while they find themselves in a difficult situation.”

We wish her every success and are delighted to be one of the chosen beneficiaries.

Leanne sent us an update recently and training is going well.
